[OPIRG-EVENTS] Ploughshares Ottawa Meeting
Ploughshares Ottawa will meet this Thursday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. in
Parkdale United Church, 429 Parkdale Avenue, corner
of Gladstone Avenue (served by OC Transpo bus routes 2, 6 and 14).
At this second meeting of the 2001-02 season, the featured presentation
will be a talk by Michael Adams on the "weapons to art" tour which
crossed Canada last year. This project started as a disarament
initiative in Mozambique, a developing country in Africa that is
emerging from a period of civil war and strife.
Meetings usually last about an hour and a half and are followed by a
time for refreshments and socializing.
The local group will meet on the second Thursday of the month until May.
Ploughshares Ottawa is affiliated with Project Ploughshares, a
Canada-wide peace organization based in Waterloo, Ontario.
