[OPIRG-EVENTS] Friday Evening Event: Colours of Resistance




Are you ready to challenge your world view?
If your answer is yes, then join us for a night of:

Colours of Resistance
Friday, November 16th, 2001
Simard Hall (South on Université from Laurier - south of the Arts
building)
University of Ottawa

6:00 - 7:00 pm
A CAUCUS is being called for activists of colour and Aboriginal activists.
Come early - the caucus will run for an hour and then break so people
can participate in the panel and workshops and the caucus will then resume
at 9:30 pm.

7:00 - 7:30 pm
Opening Panel: Community activists linking racism, globalization and war

7:30 - 9:30 pm
Workshops: Colours of Resistance - taking ownership of making
multi-racial organizing happen! We will be looking at white privilege,
challenging white supremacy and making change - actualizing anti-racist,
multi-racial organizing.

9:30 pm
CAUCUS for activists of colour and Aboriginal activists resumes.

Who should attend the panel/workshop? Progressive activists willing to
challenge themselves about anti-racism/anti-oppression issues and
practices. Come prepared to look at what individuals and organizations
can do to develop a truly inclusive, multi-racial sustainable movement.

Workshop space is limited, so please register early.

As well, as workshop space permits, new registrations will be available at
the event, beginning at 5:30 p.m.  However, to ensure a space in the
workshops, we strongly suggest that you pre-register - as noted above.

Recognition will be made of the need for those wanting to pray.
Space will be made available for this purpose.

This event is wheelchair accessible, but please call or email us for
directions.

Bus Info: get off at the Laurier Station transitway stop for the
University of Ottawa campus.

PLEASE NOTE: due to the nature of the workshops, latecomers will NOT be
admitted.
