Public meeting
Discussion on the Bill C-36 (Law against terrorism)

This Bill is pausing treats to our civils rights. The
Comité anti-ZLÉA de l'Outaouais (CAZO) considers it is
important to discuss this Bill and take an enlightened
stand.
On November 15, 2001, several organizations met with
the federal MP of Hull-Aylmer to express their
preoccupations regarding Bill C-36. Those
organizations are:
l'Association pour la défense des droits sociaux,
l'Association générale des étudiants et étudiantes du
CÉGEP de l'Outaouais,
l'Alliance de fonction publique du Canada,
Action santé Outaouais,
la Coalition populaire régionale de l'Outaouais
Droits-Accès Outaouais,
Logemen'occupe.
On November 17, the contingent of March for peace and
global justice which was leaving from Hull was stopped
by a police roadblock and everybody had to submit to
an illegal search in order to be able to cross the
bridge. Several participants have been threatened.
Many of us felt that these events were an
implementation of the so-called anti-terrorist law
even before its adoption by the House of Commons.
It is important to discuss this Bill and this is why
CAZO is calling this public meeting
