CPAWS-OV Wilderness Wednesdays Series 2002
January's meeting will be held January 9 at 7:00 p.m.
at 203 Richmond Road (Bushtakah Store), Ottawa

Guest Speaker Wednesday, January 9, 2002:

Henry Lickers of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne

Henry Lickers is the Director of the Department of the
Environment of the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne. He
represents Akwesasne in a number of partnerships with
other organizations and governments: he served as a
Member of the Panel on the Ecological Integrity of
Canada's National Parks, and is a member of the board
of directors of the Algonquin to Adirondacks
Conservation Association. Both are examples of working
with representatives from CPAWS and others to better
protect natural ecosystems. Mr. Lickers grew up on the
Six Nations reserve and studied biology at the
University of Toronto. He will be speaking on the
importance of partnerships between native and
non-native governments and organizations to achieve
the common goal of better environmental protection.
