[OPIRG-EVENTS] An 'Enron Evening' With Darren Puscas of the Polaris Institute
When: Wednesday March 27, 7-9pm
Where: Octopus Books, 116 Third Ave. FREE!!!
Enron is confusing. This popular education, interactivediscussion can help
us to understand Enron and connect it to broader issues such Enron's ties
to the WTO process, Enron's overseas shenanigans, and the perils of
electricity deregulation. What can we learn and what can we do to fight
for change in light of this collapse?
Who is this Darren Puscas person anyway?
Darren Puscas is a researcher at the Polaris Institute
(www.polarisinstitute.org) where he is working on an international campaign
to stop the General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS). The GATS is
being used by multinational corporations to take over such public services
as energy, water, health care, education, postal services, prison services,
and many more. Puscas is also involved in various local organizing
initiatives, often still misses the days whenhe worked for that fabulous
Ottawa bookstore known as Octopus Books, and is a closet fan of both the
Saskatchewan Roughriders football team and TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
