This is our cry; this is our prayer. Peace in the world.

Such reads the inscription on a monument in Hiroshima, Japan a testament
to the death of millions of people after the dropping of an atomic bomb in
1945. One of the survivors, a young girl named Sadako, made it her
personal mission to relieve some of the suffering of people. She began
folding origami cranes her goal to reach 1000 which in the Japanese
tradition is believed to make wishes come true. Sadako never reached her
goal; she died before she could complete the task.

Folding the Crane is T. Anders Carson's own testament to Sadako; a
collection of poems that embrace human suffering the loss of childhood
innocence, an orphan's cry, a mother's silence, a father's denial to find
a cure for the sickness of silence, grief, and worldly chaos. Carson's
poems seek to find the microcosms of hope and strength that lie hidden
behind the darkness.
