[OPIRG-EVENTS] Fri.Jul.19 - Ed Shaw benefit in Kingston

Ed Shaw, a kindly 76 year-old Canadian citizen has been held in a Louisiana
maximum security jail cell since October awaiting trial for a non-crime, and
as a result of the 'war on terrorism'. The story is here:

On July 19th there will be a benefit at the Brew Pub in Kingston, with
Luther Wright and the Wrongs (a country rock band who recently released a
bluegrass version of Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall) and Sarah
Harmer, another well known local musical artist. The first hour will be
devoted to a recent children's album, so this is a children-friendly event.

Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door, and are available from
Brian's Record Option, Zap Records Tapes & CD's, and Tara Foods in
Kingston, or contact Ross Elliot <relliott@primus.ca>
Donations to the Ed Shaw fund are also gratefully accepted.

A "Free Ed Shaw" website is currently being set up, which will include more
information. The trial is set for the end of August, and we hope for a good
resolution to this injustice.
Please contact Ross (above) if you can get involved.
