[OPIRG-EVENTS] Volunteers needed for "End Israeli Colonialism - Unite for Justice"

Dear Members and Supporters,

The SPHR will be having a meeting this week on 
Wednesday July 17 @ 7:00PM at
the University of Ottawa Lamaroux room 112, and  
a second meeting on
Saturday July 20 @ 1PM at Carleton University 
room 134 Uni-Centre. We set up
two different meetings to make sure everyone that 
wants to participate has
the chance. If you still cannot attend these 
meetings, please reply to this
email and we can arrange something else. These 
meetings are for an upcoming
event taking place in September... PLEASE FIND 
DETAILS BELOW

VERY IMPORTANT EVENT AND
THIS MEETING WILL TAKE ONLY AN HOUR OF YOUR TIME.

To give you a brief run-down of the event, 
Solidarity for Palestinian Human
Rights (SPHR) will be forming a coalition of 
different activist groups to
hold an event on September 27 and 28 in the city 
of Ottawa, in commemoration
of the Sabra & Shatila massacre that took place 
in 1982.  The goal of this
event is to raise awareness about the plight of 
the Palestinian people as
well as to call for the right of return and 
proper compensation for the
refugees and an end to The Occupation. The two 
day event will begin with
kiosks lined up alongside Wellington street in 
front of Parliament Hill, in
which all the participating organizations may 
take part. The purpose of this
is to provide a platform for different voices to 
be heard and allow
different individuals and organizations a meeting 
place to further expand
their activates. On the second day, a 
demonstration would assemble on
Parliament Hill where people would chant slogans 
and hear speeches. During
this time would also be a concert by English and 
French Canadian as well as
Palestinian artists. The second day would end 
with a candle light vigil
where people would be able to plant a candle on 
the lawn of Parliament Hill
in protest of the loss of innocent Palestinian 
lives. The target number is
around 2000 candles. There will also be 
presentations, movies and
documentaries shown throughout the day.This event 
is not solely for
Palestinian groups. Any organization or group, be 
it Iraqi, Columbian,
anti-capitalist, or even a union will get the 
opportunity to express their
views and be united to say "End Israeli 
Colonialism - Unite for Justice".
