WITHIN THE SHELL OF THE OLD: Visions and tactics for a
new labour movement

Please join us for a panel presentation and discussion
on how workers, rank and file union members, and
community activists are revitalizing the labour
movement and exploring its revolutionary potential.

Bronson Centre, 211 Bronson Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario

Staughton Lynd: On the idea of parallel central labour
bodies, discussing the Workersı Solidarity Club of
Youngstown as an example.

John Clarke: Community labour organizing & direct
action

Alexis Buss: Unionism on our own terms: "minority
unionism" and "direct
affiliation"

Joshua Freeze: The importance of independent unions in
the labour 
movement 

Staughton Lynd is the author of Solidarity Unionism,
the editor of We Are All Leaders, and co-editor (with
his wife Alice) of The New Rank and File. He has
practiced labour law in Youngstown, Ohio, for the past
25 years. 

John Clarke is a key organizer for the Ontario
Coalition Against Poverty, has been an activist on
unemployed / anti-poverty issues for over 20 years,
and was labelled "a cancer" by crown prosecutors.
Alexis Buss is currently serving her third term as
General Secretary-Treasurer of the Industrial Workers
of the World. Joshua Freeze has been in the labour
movement for almost 15 years and is currently
Executive Board Chair of the IWW.
