No to the FTAA!
Another America is possible!

Rally against FTAA
October 31, 2002, 3:00 pm
October 31, 2002, 3:00 pm, Ottawa

CAZO (Outaouais Commitee Against FTAA) invite you and
your oraganization to join the rally and march
organized by the Coalition etudiantes de
l'Outaouais.on Parliament Hill, October 31 at 3:00 pm.
It is clear that, among other things, the FTAA is:
- The extreme application of the same neo-liberal
model that has prevailed in recent years, with ominous
results for the peoples of the continent
- The attempt to bring about a total and immediate
opening of the Latin American and Caribbean economies,
at a moment of profound economic and social crisis.
- The absolute guarantee of colossal advantages for
the interests of big capital, especially the US
transnational corporations.
- Loss of the capacity to make sovereign decisions
concerning national economic policies, and an iron
clad barrier against the possibilities for indigenous
and independent development of the region.
- Suppression of the most essential rights of the
peoples as codified in our constitutions, by
establishing a juridical order that gives the
transnational corporations the right to put demands to
the various States and that such demands be resolved
by international tribunals placed outside the
jurisdiction of the national legislatures.
- Extreme imbalance of the labour markets in favour of
the big transnational corporations and the most
profound insecurity of the conditions of work.
- Acceleration of the process of ruination of
independent Latin American agriculture, by means of
its integration into transnational chains of
production and commercialization that aggravate the
food dependence of our countries and worsen the
unemployment situation.
- A moral attack against the preservation of the
cultural identities of our nations, and the deepening
of racial and gender discrimination.
- The growth of the super exploitation and control of
our natural resources, reserves of bio-diversity, and
deterioration of the natural environment.

No to the FTAA! Another America is possible!
No to Annexation!
For the Defence of Our Sovereignty
For the Struggle Against Social Exclusion and Poverty!
