[OPIRG-EVENTS] Details for Grannies March

MOURNERS' MARCH AND VIGIL ON NOV. 17

This is a SILENT march, led by the Raging Grannies, which will end with a
SILENT VIGIL on Parliament Hill at the start of the main Rally on Sunday
Nov. 17.

Here are the specific details:

MEETING PLACE: The war memorial @ Elgin and Sparks

MARCH STARTING TIME: 1:30 PM sharp

ROUTE OF MARCH: war Memorial, along Sparks St. to O'Connor. then
along Wellington to the Hill.

We will walk around the Hill and stop at the bottom of the steps. People
are welcome to join the march anywhere along the route, OR simply to join
us in the Vigil on the Hill.

PARTICIPANTS IN THE MARCH: Anyone or group interested in taking part
in this march is welcome. Marchers are asked to wear something Black as a
sign of mourning, and to REFRAIN FROM BRINGING INFLAMMATORY POLITICAL
PLACARDS.

The March will be led by the Grannies who will be preceded by a drumner, who
will walk in silence behind a banner saying ' WE MOURN ALL VICTIMS OF WARS'

We sincerely hope that other groups will walk together behind the Grannies,
carrying a placard or banner identifying who they are, e.g. "Women for
Peace", "Faith Partners", "Students for Peace" etc.. Being identified as a
group makes a strong statement to onlookers, giving the message that many
are deeply concerned about War.

We welcome individuals and families who share our rejection of war in all
its forms.

VIGIL: When the Mourners have reached the steps, the Silent Vigil will
start, lasting for approximately 10 minutes. At the end of the Vigil, the
Grannies, and others who would care to join in will sing "Peace to the
World", copies of which will be available to share.
