National Anti-Poverty Organization

The National Anti-Poverty Organization has an opening for a full-time
permanent researcher.

NAPO is a non-profit organization directed by low-income activists from
across Canada.

NAPO works to eliminate poverty in Canada through ensuring the voices of
low-income Canadians are heard on national issues

Responsibilities
*	Conducts qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary research
in areas identified as NAPO priorities
*	Writes/Assists with the writing of NAPO research reports, briefs,
fact sheets, position papers, articles and other documentation
*	Assists the Executive Director in identifying areas for research
*	Compiles information and documentation in response to information
requests from NAPO Board members, social justice organizations, media,
politicians and governments
*	Helps identify potential sources of research and project funding
proposals
*	Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the
Executive Director
*	Supervises student placements and volunteers as required

Qualifications
*	Extensive knowledge of social policy issues and issues facing low
income individuals
*	Significant experience in conducting research including primary,
secondary, quantitative and qualitative
*	Strong analytical and communication skills
*	Excellent writing skills
*	Computer literacy
*	Experience supervising people
*	Experience working in the NGO sector
*	Ability to read and speak French would be an asset
*	Experience of living in poverty is preferred
