[OPIRG-EVENTS] Youth Action Gathering - Camp for Youth Activists

The Youth Action Gathering is a free week-long camp
for 14-19 year-olds being held August 23-29, 2003 at
an outdoor centre east of Ottawa. 

The Gathering will bring together 40 area youth to
build crucial grassroots action skills like: 
Organizing groups 
Managing information campaigns 
Planning a demonstration 
Coordinating volunteers 
Optimizing media relations 
Working with figures of authority 
Fundraising 
Peer Motivation 

The Youth Action Gathering will also provide the
participants with more indepth perspective on local
and global social justice and sustainability issues
like: 
Globalization 
Organics 
Racism 
Community violence 
Media issues 
Food Security 
Pesticides 
Homelessness 
HIV/AIDS 
Mental Health
