The Borders of Europe Conference -- August 29, 2003 (Fri)

The Centre for European Studies (CES) at Carleton University would like 
to invite you to attend a research conference on "The Borders of Europe" 
to be held on August 29, 2003. 

The workshop will bring together distinguished academics from Canada, 
Russia as well as Western and Eastern Europe to discuss implications of 
EU enlargement for non-member states. It will include consideration of 
two sets of themes: (1) where Europe ends and the impact of EU 
enlargement on neighboring countries (Russia, Ukraine, Southeastern 
European countries); (2) and issues related to migration and cross-border 
population movements in light of EU enlargement. 

The list of speakers includes:

HelmutHubel (Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, Germany) 

SandraLavenex (University of Bern, Institute of Political Science) 

IgorLeshoukov (Institute of International Affairs, St. Petersburg, 
    Russia) 

HelenPellerin (University of Ottawa, Canada) 

OlgaPotemkina (Institute of Europe, Russian Academy of Science, Moscow, 
    Russia) 

and others. 

The final program of the conference with topics of presentations will be 
published on the CES website at http://www.carleton.ca/ces/ later in the 
summer.
