"THE TRIALS OF HENRY KISSINGER"

A documentary directed by Alex Gibney and Eugene
Jarecki; US/UK; 80minutes; 2002.

A Benefit Screening for
World Inter-Action Mondiale (WIAM)

Thursday, September 25th
7:00 p.m.
Bytowne Cinema
325 Rideau Street

In support of the 14th annual
One World Film Festival
(Oct. 27, 31, Nov. 4, 5 at the Canadian Museum of
Nature)

Throughout his time in power, former US Secretary of
State Henry Kissinger displayed shrewdness, brilliance
and ruthless ambition. But is this Nobel Prize winner
also an untried war criminal, responsible for the
deaths of hundreds of thousands of civilians?

By pitting the views of ardent Kissinger supporters
with those of his detractors – including writers Noam
Chomsky and Seymour Hersh – The Trials of Henry
Kissinger reviews evidence that Kissinger sabotaged
the Vietnam War peace process, directed a secret
bombing campaign on Cambodia, bears responsibility for
the assassination of Chilean president Allende, and
provided the weapons used by Indonesian dictator
Suharto to massacre 100,000 East Timorese in 1975.

Based on a book by British journalist Christopher
Hitchens, this thought-provoking documentary questions
the tenets of international law by asking whether war
criminals reside only in nations whose governments and
geopolitical leanings are inimical to Western
interests. It is left to the viewer to decide: is
Kissinger a mass murderer or merely a ruthless
practitioner of realpolitik?

Tickets $9. Available at WIAM in advance or at the
door. Sorry, no membership discounts.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of Communists and other subversives. We intend to clean them out, even if it means rounding up every bird watcher in the country.
