online tests

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

In Memphis, we decided to open the question of online tests up to the
mailing list.

What tests should we bother defining? ..any?

I would suggest we define at least the syntax, if not the protocol, for
an online service which returns the latest copy of a given cert (with
the most recent validity dates) and maybe a service which returns a
note about whether a given cert is good or not, and if good, for how
long that statement can be trusted.

The sense of the meeting was that CRLs are unnecessary, given online
tests like the above.
