Telnet connections

A user logging in to NCF remotely will need a shell of some sort, an email reader, a news reader, and a information grazer (www, gopher, etc..) They email reader needn't allow them to "save" messages (they won't have any disk space), but should leave them in their inbox. The news reader can be terribly simple, because it won't have a .newsrc file.
