Re: the writer of the "Are You Serious?" posting.

It appears that Mr. Corso is a bit biased re: geophysical effects of
dams. www.meadhunt.com yielded this...

The engineering firm of Mead & Hunt has played an active role in the
development, design, and safety of hydropower and other dams
throughout this century. Daniel Mead, who founded the company in 1900,
was the first professor of hydrology at the University of Wisconsin
and was active in developing many of the principles which are still
used to design and evaluate dams today - including his maximum
probable flood for spillway sizing. Mead & Hunt has an experienced
staff of water resources specialists, hydrologists, scientists and
geographic information specialists (GIS) who provide comprehensive
services in the design and evaluation of dams, including flood control
dams and hydropower dams. Mead & Hunt has also developed extensive
experience in other areas related to dams such as licensing,
permitting, environmental studies and analyses, fisheries assessments,
   GIS, and related licensing/permitting services.
