1. NOAA Restoration Center Announces Availability of 2001 Funding for
Community-Based Habitat Restoration Projects

The NOAA Restoration Center recently announced that 2001 funding is
available for individual community-based habitat restoration projects
under the Community-Based Restoration Program (CRP). The CRP is a
federal financial and technical assistance program that funds
grass-roots, community-based activities that restore living marine
resources and their habitats, including anadromous species (fish such as
salmon and herring that spawn in freshwater and migrate to the sea). The
NOAA grants application forms are available electronically on the NOAA
Restoration Center web page at:
http://www.nmfs/noaa.gov/habitat/restoration. Click on "funding
opportunities" or on the "Community-Based Restoration Program" link. For
more information contact: Robin.Bruckner@noaa.gov, Chris.Doley@noaa.gov,
or Alison.Ward@noaa.gov. They also are available by phone at: (301)
713-0174.

2. Monkfish Research Survey Information Available

A website featuring information about the ongoing monkfish research
survey is available on the NOAA Fisheries Northeast Fisheries Science
Center website at:
http://www.nefsc.nmfs.gov/nefsc/READ/popdy/monkfish/. The site is being
updated daily with reports from the vessels conducting the survey. A
press release describing the survey is available at:
