landmine treaty 1 yr later: events in Ottawa

RE: Events to celebrate the first anniversary of the signing of the treaty

PLEASE POST, CIRCULATE, AND ADD TO YOUR NEWS BULLETINS

1. On 2 December, put a pair of shoes on the SHOE MOUNTAIN to recommit
yourself to a world without landmines. Bring along your children to sign
Song Kosals' YOUTH TREATY against War.

Where: Human Rights Monument (Elgin and Laurier), Ottawa
When: 11:30 to 12:30 Special guests from mine-affected countries
      11:30 to 4:00 Shoe Mountain, Youth Treaty, sales of Christmas ornaments
                    from Cambodian mine survivor skills training workshop
      on Wednesday 2 December

2. BENEFIT CONCERT with the Mighty Popo and Maria Hawkins on 2 December and
special appearances by international anti-landmines advocates

$7 in advance, $10 at door (call 241 3777 for tickets)

Where: the Rainbow Bistro (76 Murray)
When: opens at 8:30 pm, Wednesday 2 December

3. INTERFAITH PRAYER SERVICE to commemorate victims of mines and the
anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights on 3 December (organised by
the World Council for Religion and Peace)

Where: Taberet Hall Chapel, University of Ottawa (75 Laurier West)
When: 7:30 pm, Thursday 3 December
