[OPIRG-EVENTS] Oct.17-21 - Play FREEDOM HOUSE

                   THE BROKEN ENGLISH THEATRE COMPANY
                                presents
                              Freedom House

     - an exciting new work about understanding and acceptance - exploring 
       issues of displacement and identity when the world has fallen apart.

    The play centers around Zahra, the First Mother of many tribes,
    and a modern day refugee who learns how life can change in an instant.

                             Freedom House
           tells the stories of newcomers searching for their roots and
           their voice - their personal and collective freedoms.

                   THE BROKEN ENGLISH THEATRE COMPANY
   has provided artistic haven to actors and directors from around the
     world who are displaced or have been persecuted for their art.

                     The production is directed by
   renowned director Jafar Vali, formerly from Iran. It is a collaborative
   work scripted by Artistic Director Bernadette Hendrickx, with award-winning
   writing from the Broken English Writing Competitions.

             Wednesday October 17 to Sunday October 21 2001
               at the Arts Court Theatre, 2 Daly Avenue
                 (off Nicholas near the Rideau Centre)

                         Performances at 8 p.m.
        Regular matinee performance Saturday Oct.20 at 2:00 pm.
          Pay-what-you-can matinee Sunday Oct. 21 at 2:00 pm.
             Tickets $15 / $10 for seniors and students.

                Special student matinee  (ages 14 and up)
                     Friday, 19 October at 1:00 pm.
