Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company - "THE ALLEY"
Wednesday, Jun.26, 7 pm
Odawa Native Friendship Centre, 12 Stirling Ave, at Scott St, east of Parkdale
$25.00, includes a reception following.

On their Canadian tour, the company brings to Ottawa their award-winning
performance of The Alley. Metis playwright, author, scholar and teacher
Maria Campbell, in collaboration with 2002 Circle of Voices participants of
Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company, wrote The Alley as a national
homelessness awareness initiative.

The Alley addresses issues that are relevant, truthful and important to
Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal communities. The play presents powerful themes
such as: cultural identity and distinctiveness, homelessness, and the
intergenerational impacts of residential schools. The Alley is a
cultural/theatrical experience you won't want to miss!

The Alley has an outstanding cast of up-and-coming young artists, mentored
by well known and successful performing arts professionals, including Gordon
Tootoosis, Tantoo Cardinal, Gary Farmer, Maria Campbell and Kennetch Charlette.

As part of Odawa's continuing fundraising campaign, the performance will be
on Wednesday, June 26th, 2002 at the Odawa Native Friendship Centre, 12
Stirling Avenue (at Stirling & Scott, 3 blocks east of Parkdale). Doors open
at 6:00 p.m. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25.00 each and
include a reception, following the show.
