Aug 8 6pm: Emancipation Day, National Library
The Emancipation Day 2003 Committee invites you to the Celebration of
Emancipation Day 2003 - on Friday August 8 at the Library and Archives of
Canada, 395 Wellington St, Ottawa. The event begins with the viewing of
exhibits from 6:00 - 6:55pm, followed by the Formal Programme from 7:00 -
9:00pm and concluding with refreshments from 9:00- 10:00pm
The overall and permanent theme for Emancipation Day is: "From Tribulation to
Jubilation", however each year the Committee chooses a theme, which this year
is "Unity in Diversity"
Included in this year's programme are reading from W.E.B. Dubois- Souls of
Black Folk (this year is the 100 year of the publication of this book).
The schedule for the event is as follows: 6:00pm - 6:55pm - Viewing of Exhibits
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm - Performances 9:00 pm - 10:00 pm - Refreshments. Admission
is Free ( Donations will be accepted)
