Free SKIP software available

Folks,

As promised, the SKIP IP layer encryption/key management software is now
freely available from:

http://skip.incog.com

This package provides IP layer encryption which is completely transparent
to applications. This is the same software that was demonstrated at the
San Jose IETF meeting.

The software features:

- Automated certificate exchange.
- Multi-threaded kernel implementation for parallel bulk data
  encryption/decryption on a multi-processor.
- Dynamic loading into Solaris kernel.
- Transparent management of IP fragmentation/reassembly issues
- Configurable key-encryption and traffic encryption algorithms
(currently DES and RC2 for key encryption and DES-CBC, RC2-CBC
   and RC4 for traffic encryption).
- GUI admin tool for configuring algorithm and key-mgmt policies.

The Web page is hopefully self-explantory.

I apologize for not making source immediately available, but there
are two reasons for this. The current software is written for
STREAMS/Solaris and uses BSAFE 2.1, the commercial public key package
from RSADSI.

Once the software has been ported to BSD style mbufs and RSAREF,
which is the next thing we plan on doing, the source code will
also be made freely available.

In addition, there is a trial CA service for experimenting with
the software. In the future, the CA software will also be made
freely available, so that people may set up and manage their
own CA hierarchies.

All comments and requests for more information on this
software should be sent to:

freeskip@incog.com

and not to the ipsec mailing list.

Please feel free to forward this message as appropriate.

Please note that this software is controlled by US export control laws.
The software must not be acquired or transported in violation of these
US laws, or applicable laws of other countries.

Enjoy,
Ashar, Martin, Tom, Hemma...
