Fairly recent. RC5 is a proprietary algorithm owned by (who else) RSA
Data Security Inc.

A little; not what I'd call "strong review" the way that, say, 3DES
has had. I don't want to demean its creators, but in general one wants
to let these things be examined for quite a while before one trusts
them.
